This case study presentation by Subhodip Bandyopadhyay, Director Organization, System & Supply Chain, Carrefour WC&C India Pvt. Ltd at ReTechCon 2013 focused on how home grown technology was used to debottleneck the order management process.<\/p>\n
Carrefour \u2013 In India operates in the Wholesale Cash & Carry segment.\u00a0 This is a regulated sector \u2013 which means that they can sell only to entities \u2013 e.g. kiraanas,\u00a0 and Hotels, restaurants & caterers (HORECA), retail stores, offices , service stations etc.\u00a0 Even with extensive FMCG networks in India about 25% of kiraanas remain out of their footprint and they are serviced by the cash and carry segment.<\/p>\n
The initial process to obtain orders from these segments of customers was manual. A sales man would go to the customers premises and fill out an order sheet which was then consolidated manually at the C&C store.<\/p>\n
This lead to the following problems.<\/p>\n
Tablet based order management system. Orders transmitted real time in centralized order system. Pickers\u00a0 picks the stock.\u00a0 Prices are committed when the order is received. Blling through centralized ordering system.<\/p>\n
